Welcome to the UI-Integrate System at the University of Illinois

This page describes installation procedures for workstation software currently deployed by UI-Integrate.

Jinitiator

This is a Java Virtual Machine with enhanced capabilities that must be installed by someone logged in as a workstation administrator. It can be downloaded automatically as a user is logging into Banner or it can be pre-installed. The current supported version of Jinitiator for the Banner environment is 1.3.1.6.

Jinitiator Links

  • Instructions on how to check whether Jinitiator 1.3.1.6 is already installed on your PC.
  • To install Jinitiator, you must login into your PC with administrator privileges. Instructions on how to check if you have local administrator rights on your PC. This document provides instructions for checking your access rights in both Windows 2000 and NT.
  • If not installed, Jinitiator installation starts automatically when logging into Banner from the UI-Integrate Web site. Instructions on installing Jinitiator from Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
  • The New version of Jinitiator: 1.3.1.6

Business Objects Report viewer

This is an ActiveX component that must be installed by someone logged in as a workstation administrator. It can be downloaded automatically as a user is logging into Business Objects or it can be pre-installed.

Adobe Acrobat

If you use Document Management (WebXtender) you will also need Acrobat 5.0, which may be downloaded from: http://helpdesk.uillinois.edu/PDFs/rp500enu.exe. We do not recommend using Acrobat 6.0 and cannot provide support for any problems you may encounter using Acrobat 6.0 with UI-Integrate/Banner.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft Word 2000 or '97 (latest version with latest service packs applied) is required to support Mail Merge reports.
