Manage Announcements

Announcements are managed in Webtools - https://webtools.illinois.edu. The announcements created and published in WebTools are displayed on the apps.uillinois.edu via a javscript widget.

Quick Steps

1. Login to Webtools. Blogs > Manage
2. Select the Blog
3. Select or Create a Post
4. Edit/publish/unpublish the post as needed
5. Check/uncheck the Widget box to show published posts via widget on website

Step 1: Login to Webtools; Blogs > Manage

Login to WebTools

After logging in, go to Blogs > Manage, either by using the dropdown at the top or the link in the body content.

Step 2: Select the Blog (Announcements for apps.uillinois.edu)

The Blog name is "Announcements for apps.uillinois.edu" #9284. Select this Blog to view Blog posts.

Step 3: Select or Create a Post

View the Blog posts' Title, Date, Widget* (checked/unchecked), etc. Select a Blog post Title to edit.

Step 4: Edit/publish/unpublish the post as needed

Additional Notes

• To edit a post it must be unpublished
• To show in the widget (used on website), a post must be published AND the Widget box needs to be checked (see Step 3 above)
• Current widget settings show only the post's Description fields: other fields (title, post date, author, etc.) do not show via the widget.
• Authors should focus on message content only using basic text; the CSS for the widget settings in WebTools control how the post content is displayed on the site(s) for the yellow background, red alert icon, etc.
